Car Repair Phoenix | How to find an honest auto repair shop.

How to find an HONEST Mechanic and a good Great Car Repair Shop.

Ok so it’s time to take your car in for service or repair, or your car is acting funny and you’re worried that the problem may be more serious than what you think?

If this is happening to you and you live in Phoenix Arizona or surrounding areas, you can feel at ease. That is because you are not going to have difficulty finding a Phoenix car repair shop that will be able to cater to your needs. At first you might be overwhelmed at the number of auto repair shops in the area. You virtually have an endless choice! Fact is you have to figure out how to work your way through the shops to find the one that will give you the best car repair service at a fair price.

Most of the articles you will read on the subject of finding a good mechanic, or finding a car repair shop etc. list price as a top factor for choosing an auto service center. The fact is, it should not even be on the list! See Price shopping to find a good car repair shop, a bad idea!

To Find a Great Car Repair Center you only need to follow these easy steps:

(For this example we will use Phoenix Car Repair shops)

(1) Do a local search in your area, or perform a Google search for Car Repair Phoenix, or your specific city. You can narrow the search by typing your vehicle make, like Toyota Repair Phoenix. Of course you can do the same for other import vehicles like Lexus, Honda, Acura, Subaru, Audi etc. If you drive a domestic vehicle do a similar search. Now your goal here is to narrow your search to five to ten shops that are near your home, or work, that are experts on your specific vehicle make. You may find that this type of “vehicle expert mechanic” search narrows your list to just one or two… but in this day and age, of technologically advanced cars, it is the most important factor!

(2) Once you have the Phoenix car repair shops picked out, let’s narrow the search a bit further. You can do this by checking into the following:

  • How long have they been in business? The longer the better, but at least 5 years.
  • Are the technicians Certified through ASE? This is a must, all service personnel who lay their hands on your car must be certified professionals.
  • Are they registered with trade organizations like ASA, ASE?  This shows they prescribe to a set code of ethics.
  • Are they a BBB accredited business? What is their Rating?  This is important as it reflects their level of accountability and professionalism, along with their willingness to allow an outside organization to arbitrate should a dispute arise. You can also check to see if they have past complaints that are unresolved.
  • What kind of parts do they use in the car repairs? Make sure they stick to original or better quality parts for your specific vehicle make. This is another area that you cannot compromise!

(3) Ok you have probably narrowed your car repair shop to one, or maybe two at this point. This next step is very, very important, talk to them! As you converse with your Phoenix car repair shop employees, take special note of:

  • How quickly do they answer the phone?
  • How helpful or caring do they seem? Are they friendly? Do they do things such as show you around the facility? Or offer you a beverage?
  • What is your impression as you drive up? Or walk in the front door?
  • Is the facility neat and clean? Check the customer bathroom, does it reflect a “customer care” atmosphere?
  • Do they take the time to listen to your concerns and needs?

In the above steps you are relying on the important things when it comes to finding good and honest car repair!

Industry certifications and affiliations, vehicle specific knowledge and experience, these really separate the Pros from the Foes. You also must trust you’re interviewing skills and instincts on facility and customer care. This is the only way to find good people, who will behave professionally with you and your car for years to come.

So the next time you are in need of a Phoenix car repair shop, or one in some other area, know that you have plenty of options. Definitely follow these 3 steps and it will be so much easier for you to land in an auto repair shop that will give you great service at a fair price.
